President's Message

Tehatta Sadananda Mahavidyalaya grew out of a tremendous effort made by the local erudite of Tehatta village of Purba Bardhamaan district to eradicate illiteracy and bring the dawn of education within the easy reach of common people. The first step towards this philanthropic act was the establishment of the Tehatta Sailendra Smriti Sangha, a local village library that gave free access to books to the people. Later Tehatta Free Primary School and Tehatta High School were established to promote proper institutional education among the masses. The latest glorious addition to the list was the establishment of Tehatta Sadananda Mahavidyalaya in 2013 to enable the youth to get access to higher education. Today the college stands as the only higher educational institution in Kalna Block II division and is in the process of making rapid development and progress in spreading education.

The college is situated in a locality which has a rich cultural heritage of its own. It is primarily a rural area where people of diverse communities coexist. Being an underprivileged locality, largely comprising of people belonging to socially and economically backward classes, the college stands as a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment for the aspiring youth. With a dedicated aim of imparting value based quality education, the college aspires to strengthen the minds of the students and expand the opportunities of the local people to enable them to adapt themselves to the changing needs of the modern times.
